radiant heating
Steven M asked:

Hello: I am looking at buying a home with hydronic radiant heat in the floors. It was built in the 1950’s. I was wondering if adding a programmable thermostat to cut back the temperature before retiring would save some $$$. I realize that these types of heating systems heat up or cool down fast.

Thanks, in advance, for any and all replies.

Cheers,
Steve/OHIO

radiant heating
birdhunter5581 asked:

I am considering buying a home with baseboard radiant heating (nat gas). The home was built in ‘62 and it has the original boiler. I have no experience with these systems. What brand of boiler would you recommend? I’ve got quotes for a Munchkin boiler, pump, etc = $9000+ and a Noritz boiler, pump, ect. intsalled for around $8000. Are these reasonable quotes? FYI, it’s a 2000 sq ft tri-level home.

Also, the home is carpeted throughout and after reading about how the baseboard heating works, should I be concerned that the carpet is fairly snug under the baseboard heaters?

Are there any concerns with babies and small children climbing up and around the baseboards?? Thanks
